For the Shanghainese dumpling house Yaso Tangbao, I designed an 18'H mural inspired by traditional Chinese textiles and ornamentation. To highlight of a series of upcoming pop-up events honoring the Chinese crayfish, the restaurant was looking for a concept that touched upon the evolution of Shanghainese cuisine. The modern application of these patterns is meant to reflect the unique pairing of the traditional and the contemporary throughout Shanghai’s journey from a small agricultural village to a booming metropolis.
